Tony, Adam, Nick and Anne had planned five harder and five easier walks for the holiday and after the first day five shorter ambles were added to accommodate everyone's needs. The weather for the five days was perfect, encouraging several members to brave swimming in the sea and others to indulge in ice creams along the way, and the spectacular coastline from Abbotsbury in the East to Lyme Regis in the West was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The walk to Lyme Regis in particular was enhanced by Toni's expertise in identifying fossils and rocks on this famous stretch of coast. Interest was added to the longer walks on the fourth and fifth days by the freeing of sheep stuck in a fence and a gate and Nigel's trusty secateurs were invaluable in making some poorly maintained footpaths more accessible! The hotel was comfortable, the staff attentive and the food superb to set the seal on a most enjoyable stay.
Many thanks to Tony for organising the trip and to the walks planners and leaders who ensured that the prime purpose of the expedition was fully realised (despite the commencement of the Winter bus timetable on the day we arrived!). All in all, a most memorable holiday.
