What to expect on the walk

As we have a lot of new members now I thought it would be a good idea to tell you about the annual London Blind Ramblers walk.
We meet the Visually Impaired people at Oxted station. They can be up to 15 or more including their helpers. But we don’t really know until they arrive. Some will have guide dogs or canes and there walking needs are all different so just ask how they would like to be lead, also ask if they would like descriptions, scenery etc of the walk, not everyone does, it’s all about communication. Most link up with you or hold on to your elbow. Then usually at coffee or lunch time you swap and walk with someone different. The walk is slower than normal so people who think they can’t do 8 miles will be fine on this walk. Then we all end up at the Oxted British Legion and have some yummy cakes and tea. It’s a very rewarding day helping the visually impaired; if we were not here to help they would not be able to walk in our beautiful countryside. so come along and give it ago all members welcome.
