Judy Smythson is leading an easy 3½ mile walk/amble before the cream tea, so why not join her & work (walk?) up an appetite? The just returned holiday to the Cotswolds was, I believe another success. Thanks to all who went on it & to Keith Towers for organising it – even though he ended up not going & to Tony Pearson for taking over the administration from Keith.

At the upcoming AGM in November (Saturday 9^th, St Andrews’ Hall, Limpsfield Chart) I will have completed my three years as Chairman & Karen will have done her three years as Treasurer, so we are looking for volunteers for the roles of Chairman & Treasurer. If either of these roles are something that you think you could do, please contact any member of the committee for more information. Neither role is particularly time consuming or difficult & there is a cap of three years in post, so it’s not a lifelong commitment! We do need some volunteers though: it would not be good to not have either a Chairman or Treasurer, so please see if this is something you could do. To give you an idea, as Chairman, I typically spend probably only an hour or two a month, reading emails etc., unless there’s something pressing, either raised by an ESW member/committee member or from Ramblers head office. I also attend the Surrey Area Council meetings, which are quarterly, some in person at East Horsley & some via Zoom. For the Treasurer’s role, it’s about 3-4 hours a month, with a slightly more intense period at the year end, doing reports to go to area.

Don’t forget that ESW member Gordon Gillett’s garden at Tollsworth Manor, Rook Lane, Chaldon CR3 5BQ is open this Sunday, 2^nd June from 11 till 4, raising funds for St Catherine’s Hospice. Seems like there’ll be lots to see & do. Let’s hope the weather is kind to him

Rosie has agreed, so please make a note in your diary that the ESW summer buffet will be held on Sunday 18^th August. More details nearer the time.
