CARRY ON WALKING
It is great that our walks are going so well, and we have already gained a record breaking 15 new members this month by being up and running (ok, walking) so quickly. A very warm welcome to all of you.
At the moment, we are still permitted to walk with up to 30 people and we will keep a close eye on the Ramblers’ guidance as this second wave sets in. If anyone is uncomfortable about being challenged, please print out a copy of Ramblers’ advice on this link: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/coronavirus
You already know that Liz W has stepped in as acting Walks Co-Ordinator after Helen W’s resignation and it is largely due to her that we have a walks programme in place. I am very pleased to say that Helen McD has agreed to put herself forward for election as Walks Co-Ordinator at the AGM, and in the meantime she is liaising with Liz so that any handover will be seamless. In order to help Liz and Helen, a few other people have agreed to liaise with walk leaders to encourage them to lead walks. These people are Sue H for the ambles, Angie H for weekend walks and Helen W for the fast fitness walks. They will also encourage members who are not yet leaders to have a go at leading – we have a good support system in terms of training and a buddy-system if you are interested.
Our current walk programme for the last remaining days in September can be seen on our website HERE - and I'm delighted to tell you that our wonderful leaders have stepped up again and are offering a lovely variety of walks for October.
- The first one is next Thursday 1st October - a 7 mile walk led by Angie and Doug H from Marsh Green. Places can be booked with them at
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - Then on Sunday 4th October Arthur D has a 5.5 mile walk from Outwood - booking by text on 07786311095.
The details of these and all the October walks will be on the website early next week.
Walks for November and December will be published towards the end of October
HIGH WEALD SELF-GUIDED WALKING FESTIVAL
In a Noticeboard a few weeks ago we mentioned this Walking Festival. I’ve looked on their website and they really have a wonderful selection of walks – BUT – they are only available until 30th September. So why not go on the site and at least print out their PDF’s which give directions and a map. They are very much worth looking at. They might even give you some ideas of walks that you can lead for us.
