Walking for Pleasure

Local Footpath Secretaries act as a link between Surrey County Council and the rest of us: whenever we come across a problem, we can tell the Footpath Secretary about it (as well as reporting it on the Public Rights of Way map) and they can add it to our list. The Footpath Secretary then liaises with the Council, giving them an idea of which are the highest priority problems; or sometimes the issue can be dealt with by a Volunteer Footpath Warden. The Council often needs local input when there are changes to the network suggested, and a Footpath Secretary provides that input, perhaps through asking for reactions from our members. Some parish councils in our area are particularly interested in looking after their footpaths. Again, Footpath Secretaries are in the perfect place to liaise with them, either taking their input or feeding them information, whichever is required.

Ian currently covers the parishes of Godstone, Oxted, Tandridge and Titsey; if this seems too much to take on, we'd be very happy to split the area between two people
