HF Holiday to Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight, May 2022
This holiday is fully booked.
Keith Towers has kindly arranged a seven night walking holiday from Saturday 14th May 2022 to Saturday 21st May 2022.
This is a self-guided holiday at a cost of £845 per person with no supplement for single rooms. The price includes bed, breakfast, picnic lunch, evening meal and evening entertainment. The price does not include travel, you will have to make your own way there, however car sharing is an option. When the final balance is calculated the final price may well be lower as we hope to qualify for a discount if all rooms are filled.
This is a wonderful walking area and we will have the opportunity to sample wonderful views of the island and the Needles. Tony Pearson has kindly offered to organise the walks with a choice of a short or long walk on five days and a free day. Please note that the short walks are different to our normal short ESW walks as they could be up to seven miles, so you will be out until after lunch, however they will be led at a leisurely pace. The long walks can be up to 12 miles and led at a Moderate pace.
Freshwater Bay
Freshwater Bay House stands atop the island’s classic white cliffs and dominating the bay that it is named after. As well as 43 bedrooms, many decked out in blue and white printed wallpaper featuring foam-tipped waves breaking softly across the walls that act as a promise of the coastal scenery to come, there are three lounges and a friendly bar. There are extensive gardens, with a staircase that drops to the beach, and a path leads away across Tennyson Down towards the Needles. If we have some of the island’s plentiful sunshine (it averages around 2,000 hours a year), head to Alum Bay for coloured sands or Compton Bay for dinosaur footprints. Explore Carisbrooke Castle, stroll through Ventnor Botanic Gardens and keep an eye out for red squirrels in Borthwood Copse and America Wood. Like all HF Country Houses, it is tailored for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts with a boot room, drying room and Discovery Point.
