Sunday April 24th - Walk with London Blind Ramblers - note 10.15am start

This is a reminder of the event taking place on the 24th and a brief explanation for those of you who have not been part of this before. The walkers will be coming into Oxted Railway Station by 10.30am, so please arrive by 10.15am.
We assist the London Blind Walkers by leading people with sight loss on a five or seven mile walk finishing at The British Legion in Oxted for tea and homemade cakes. There will be a maximum of 10 visually impaired people plus their helpers, some will have guide dogs or use canes, but we don’t really know until they arrive. Their walking needs are all different so we ask how they would like to be led. Most will link their arm through yours or hold on to your elbow. We also ask if they would like verbal descriptions of the scenery etc on the walk – this can add to their enjoyment although not everyone wants this – it is all about communication. The walk is slower than normal so people who think they can’t do 7 miles will actually be fine on this walk. We finish at the Oxted British Legion for tea and cakes. Please don't forget the donations of home made cakes at the beginning of the walk, whether you are joining the walk or not.

It’s a very rewarding day helping at this event. If we were not there to help, the walkers would not be able to walk in our beautiful countryside, so please come along and give it a go. Everyone is welcome.
