Details of the holiday:
Once again Helen Whiteley has booked a holiday for the end of this year, staying at the 4* Spa Blunsdon House Hotel.
Departing on Sunday 1st of December to Thursday 5th of December 2024.
The sole occupancy room bookings will be given as a priority to leaders and members that contribute to the group, however we have 26 at sole occupancy so there is a good chance there will not be a reserve list but it will be on a first come first served basis after the priority bookings.
About the holiday
It will consist of 4 nights staying at the 4* Spa Blunsdon House Hotel, near Swindon in Wiltshire. This includes: coach travel there and back; bed and breakfast; packed lunch; evening meal in our own function room with PA and microphone system; coffee/tea and mince pies on arrival; our own evening festive programme; use of the spa facilities, heated pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi; 3 days of walks, both short and long and use of the coach every day for walks and trips out to areas of local interest.
About the hotel and surrounding area
The 4* Blunsdon House Hotel is just outside Swindon and is set in 30 acres of beautiful Wiltshire countryside, overlooking the Vale of Cricklade with views of the Cotswolds. It has been an independent, family owned business for more than 60 years.
It is an ideal place to stay, surrounded by picture postcard villages and ancient landmarks - not to mention the excellent shopping facilities of Swindon town centre and the Designer Outlet Village. The town also has a railway museum, a museum of computing, and an art gallery. There are regular bus services into Swindon from nearby the hotel.
The extensive hotel grounds are well planted and beautifully maintained and even offer a mile long nature walk.
The pool and spa facilities have recently been refurbished and offer some excellent facilities. There is a 10m heated indoor swimming pool which starts shallow and gently shelves to 7ft at the deepest point. Or how about relaxing in the whirlpool Jacuzzi or maybe try the dry heat of the Scandinavian sauna. The Essence Steam room is a state-of-the-art thermal treatment where you can breathe in the scented air and allow the humid heat to ease those muscles after doing a walk.

Travel
We will be travelling by coach using a coach and holiday company called Woods Travel of Bognor. The four pick up points are: Oxted, Warlingham, Caterham and Godstone. These pick-ups are as the same as before and full addresses will be sent out nearer to the time. We will be setting off probably around midday to arrive for check in.
Walks
The hotel is located just outside the official Cotswolds district, and very near the route of the river Thames, not far from its source. It’s not a hilly area, so the walking is fairly flat, and there are many lakes and water parks. We will be walking some of the time on the Thames Path at various locations including Cricklade and Lechlade. We also plan one day further into the Cotswolds to the pretty town of Burford, where there will be some hills. As usual there will be two walks on offer for each of the 3 days: the shorter walks of 5-6 miles will be led at a Leisurely pace. The longer walks will be led at a Moderate pace. We will have use of the coach during the week, to take us to and from the walk start/finish points.
