About the holiday
The holiday will consist of four nights, staying at the three star The Pines Hotel in Swanage. This includes, B&B, packed lunch, evening meal, our own function room, evening entertainment and 3 days of walking.
Tony P has kindly offered to organise the walks and it is a wonderful walking area. We plan to walk on all three days, a short and long on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please note the short walks are different to our normal ESW walks as they can be up to 6/7 miles long and you will be out until after lunch, but they will be led at a very leisurely pace. The long walks can be up to 10 miles and lead at a moderate pace.
About the hotel and area
The Pines Hotel enjoys an unrivalled position with a magnificent view over Swanage Bay, on the south coast of Dorset near the historic village of Corfe Castle on the Isle of Purbeck.
Relax in our cliff top garden with its glorious panoramic views of Swanage Bay or take our private steps down to the beach front where you can stroll into town at your leisure.
Swanage is set in an area of great natural beauty and retains much of the charm of its Victorian heritage.
The hotel is located at the eastern end of the 95-mile long UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast.
The surrounding area offers great variety, from the medieval history of Corfe Castle and its hinterland of Hardy’s “Wessex”, to the major cosmopolitan resort of nearby Bournemouth.
Light and traditionally furnished, every room at The Pines Hotel has a flat screen TV and free tea and coffee making facilities.
The restaurant looks out over the Isle of Wight and Swanage Bay, and uses fresh produce in its menu, with a range of local specialities.

Rooms and prices
The price per person is £500.00
We have 19 spaces for sole occupancy and a further mix of five doubles and five twins. We have 3 separate sole occupancy rooms which will be allocated to members that contribute to the group and 16 sole occupancy rooms in family suites.
Each family suite will hold 2 people and you will have your own private, separate bedroom with no single supplement, however you will have to share a bathroom between the two of you.
If you wish to have a sea view, there are 3 family suites that have this and the price for this is £580.00 per person (the sea views only applies to the family suites for the sole occupancy people)
It would help Helen when the booking email comes out if the sole occupancy people had an idea of:
- If you can sort out who you would like to share with in the family suite and then one booking email from just one of you will be suffice
- If you are open to sharing with anyone
- Which suite, standard or a sea view, you require. Helen anticipates that the cheaper family suites will probably be more popular so these will go to the members that contribute to the group and thereafter on a first come first served basis; so you may have to be open to obtaining a sea view room if the standard rooms have all gone.
